the very special fishponds

the big surprise behind a small door...

if we wanted to see the fishponds while waiting for the guided tour we were asked
fishponds??? I thought
at that moment a little door was opened
and we stepped into another world...
... the world of the baroque era
when monasteries had nearly the power of absolute monarchs
and lived voluptously.
the most famous architects & artists of the time
not only were responsible for church, monastery, obervatory & library,
they also built the fishponds
Carlo Antonio Carlone 1690-92, 3 ponds
Jacob Prandtauer 1720, 2 ponds
Stift Kremsmuenster, Upper Austria, Austria
